Water infiltration and leakage are destructive phenomena that can endanger the safety and stability of these structures after the construction of earthen dams. Numerous researches have been conducted on the numerical modeling of leakage currents from earthen dams. There is a discussion of seepage from the body and the foundation of the dam and its analysis. Existence of seepage in earth dams is unavoidable, but if there are suitable conditions for soil erosion, seepage causes soil particles to be washed away in favorable places. Studies conducted on a large number of destroyed earthen dams have shown that about 38% of these failures were caused by uncontrolled seepage from the dam body. By analyzing the results of precision instruments and numerical model, it is possible to ensure the correctness of the information of precision instruments embedded in the dam. Numerical methods can be a good, accurate and useful tool for modeling physical phenomena such as the movement and flow of water in porous deposits. In this comparison, the strengths and weaknesses of the numerical model are identified and an attempt is made to accurately predict leakage flow and uplift pressure. Finally, the necessary solutions to detect the leakage path, water leakage rate and other measures related to the safety of the dam are suggested.
