Variable gain amplifier based on feedback is simple in terms of structure and implementation, but this topology has continuous gain changes with acceptable accuracy. As a result, it is not suitable for advanced variable gain amplifier. The variable gain amplifier based on the analog multiplier has good linearity and gain controllability, but the swing of this amplifier is severely limited by the gain. Therefore, this topology does not have the ability to provide the design requirements of a variable gain amplifier. The variable gain amplifier based on the differential pair with source degeneration has a good linear property, but its transmission conductance is not suitable due to the denominator coefficient, so in this research we will introduce and examine the basic structures of analog variable gain amplifiers.
