One of the social goals leading to smart urban growth is to strengthen social interactions and increase the sense of belonging and dependence on the place in neighborhood unitsThe current research aims to investigate the role of smart growth on the realization of neighborhood identity criteria in order to achieve urban development in Noghan neighborhood of Mashhad. Descriptive-analytical research method and required data have been collected by two methods of survey (questionnaire) and documents..The results of the above research show that Noghan neighborhood in Mashhad is at the highest level in terms of physical and cultural identity indicators and in the middle level in terms of intelligent growth indicators.
