Abstract
This article examines the use of sustainable materials in architecture and its impact on reducing environmental impacts in urban projects. Given the environmental challenges posed by rapid urbanization and climate change, the use of sustainable materials is emerging as a key strategy in the design and construction of buildings. These materials, which are usually produced from renewable resources and with low-energy processes, can help reduce energy consumption, reduce waste generation, and improve indoor air quality. The present study analyzes successful projects that use sustainable materials, such as green buildings and sustainable urban projects. It also examines the challenges and barriers to the adoption of these materials, including initial costs, lack of public awareness, and legal barriers. Finally, strategies are proposed to promote the use of sustainable materials in urban projects. These strategies include increasing public awareness, providing financial incentives from the government, and establishing specific standards for assessing the quality of sustainable materials. By implementing these strategies, it is possible to reduce the negative environmental impacts of urban projects and create more sustainable living spaces.
