Globalization, as a transformative force, has had profound and widespread impacts on the structure and function of families in Iran and around the world. This article, employing a descriptive-analytical method, examines the effects of globalization on traditional families globally and within the specific context of Iran. The results of this research indicate that globalization, through the promotion of individualistic values, changes in gender roles, increased geographical mobility, and the spread of global media, has led to the emergence of new forms of families, including single-parent families and cohabitation without marriage. Globally, marriage rates have declined significantly, and divorce rates have increased considerably; for example, in the European Union, marriage rates have halved in the past few decades (Eurostat, 2022). In Iran, although the institution of the family still maintains relative stability, there are signs of a 40% decrease in marriage rates, an increase in the age of marriage, an increase in divorce rates, and a tendency towards Western family patterns (Statistical Center of Iran, 1400). These changes have occurred under the influence of economic, cultural, and technological factors resulting from globalization. This study emphasizes the necessity of effective cultural policies to preserve the functions of the family and suggests that by strengthening public education and awareness, the negative effects of globalization can be mitigated, and its opportunities can be harnessed to improve social welfare. Ultimately, this research emphasizes the need for further and deeper research on the long-term impacts of globalization on the family to design effective strategies for managing these transformations and supporting this fundamental social institution. The ultimate goal of this research is to enhance a better understanding of family changes in the era of globalization and to facilitate the design and implementation of appropriate and comprehensive solutions to support this social institution and maintain its stability and cohesion
